How i chose my Topic of the research

.Will since i have a several of my brother's Children , i decided to do my research on them
.Because as we said we need to use a topic that interest us

So , i was thinking about their second language , are they having  the ability to acquire it?
Especially that i wanted the children to acquire it without getting bored , so i decided to use some of the applications on the iPad ,, and this is how i became with the idea of promoting their second language .

The References

Every reference you use in your research paper has to be cited twice

1- In-text
2- In the reference list.

1- Cite last names only.
2- Cite the date of publication.
3- Cite the page number with direct quotation, but not with a paraphrase

4- If your direct quotation is more than 40 words long, indent it.

5- If the work has more than one author, use and in the text and an ampersand (&) in the citation.

6- When a work has no author, use the first two or three words of the work's title as your text reference, capitalizing each word.

For The reference list

Place the title in quotation  if it refers to an article, chapter of a book, or Web page. Italicize the title if it refers to a book, periodical, brochure, or report

Order: Entries should be arranged in alphabetical order by authors' last names. Sources without authors are arranged alphabetically by title within the same list.
Authors: Write out the last name and initials for all authors of a particular work. Use an ampersand (&) instead of the word "and" when listing multiple authors of a single work. e.g. Smith, J. D., & Jones, M.
Titles: Capitalize only the first word of a title or subtitle, and any proper names that are part of a title.
Pagination: Use the abbreviation p. or pp. to designate page numbers of articles from periodicals that do not use volume numbers, especially newspapers. These abbreviations are also used to designate pages in encyclopedia articles and chapters from edited books.
Indentation*: The first line of the entry is flush with the left margin, and all subsequent lines are indented (5 to 7 spaces) to form a "hanging indent".
Underlining vs. Italics*: It is appropriate to use italics instead of underlining for titles of books and journals.

For the Body and Conclusion

Writing the Body of the research

1- Literature review:
Your literature review section should have quotes or brief summaries of what other researchers said about the topic you are researching, and your own comments on these quotes.

2- Methodology
Your methodology section should include description of how you will conduct your research, what tools you will use and how these tools will help you answer your research question(s).

3- Results and discussion:
- Present your findings (you may use tables and figures).
- Discuss your findings… What can we learn from them?

Writing The conclusion

Reaffirm your thesis statement
Reach a decision or judgement
Discuss the implications of your findings

Bring your paper to a closure

The Introduction

Writing the Introduction

1- Background:
Define key terms
Provide background information (e.g. historical overview).
The problem:
 What is the problem?
- Are you exploring or resolving the problem?
Thesis
“Use your thesis sentence to establish the direction of the study”

General Guidelines

You are advised not to start writing before you feel that you are ready
You do not have to perfect every paragraph/section before you progress to the next bit
Keep a record of the references you use
Focus on the central issues of your research paper
Inquiry, negotiation, and persuasion.
 Follow the suggested structure

Spelling and grammar mistakes leave
the reader with a bad impression about your paper, no matter how good your
topic or your research is!

What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is a CRIME! It is defined as the act of claiming the words or ideas of another person as your own.
You need to let readers know when you borrow from a source by introducing a quotation or paraphrase with the name of the author and year of publication.
For example, Alhamid (1999) suggests that there are 2 million smokers in Saudi Arabia.

When reporting what others have said, you must either
Use “quotation marks” if you are directly quoting them, followed by a proper citation, e.g.
“There are 380,000 unemployed people in Saudi Arabia” (Alotaibi 2008:5).
Paraphrase and cite the reference. E.g.
Alotaibi (2008) reports that there are 380,000 jobless people in Saudi Arabia
